  • 1907

    Founded by Hokkaido Colliery Steamship Company and the British firms Sir W.G. Armstrong, Whitworth & Co., Ltd. and Vickers Sons and Maxim, Ltd. The headquarters and factory are located in Muroran, Hokkaido.

  • 1915

    The headquarters is moved to Tokyo.

  • 1920

    The Hiroshima Plant is established with the purchase of Hiroshima Seisakusho Co., Ltd.

  • 1936

    Construction of the Yokohama Plant is completed and goes into operation.

  • 1950

    The Japan Steel Works, Ltd. is dissolved and reestablished.

  • 1969

    Offices are established in New York, Dusseldorf, and Tehran.

  • 1975

    Offices are established in Los Angeles, Houston, and Singapore.

  • 1978

    Japan Steel Works America, Inc. is established in the United States.

  • 1982

    Beijing office established.

  • 1983

    Relocation of Yokohama Plant is completed.
    The Beijing Office is established.
    The company is awarded the Deming Application Prize.

  • 1988

    Fine Crystal Co., Ltd. is established.

  • 1990

    JSW Plastics Machinery, Inc. is established in the United States.
    (merged into Japan Steel Works America, Inc. in 2017)

  • 1992

    JSW Plastics Machinery (S) Pte. Ltd. is established in Singapore.
    (company name is changed into The Japan Steel Works (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. in 2014)

  • 1994

    Hiroshima Plant (plastic processing and manufacturing machinery, injection molding machines, and compressors) obtained ISO 9001 certification.

  • 1996

    Yokohama Plant acquired ISO9000 certification.

  • 1997

    JSW Plastics Machinery (H.K.) Co., Ltd. is established in Hong Kong.

  • 1998

    ISO 14001 certification is acquired.

  • 2000

    JSW Plastics Machinery (Taiwan) Corp. is established in Taiwan.

  • 2003

    JSW Plastics Machinery Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is established in China.
    (merged into JSW Machinery Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. in 2014)

  • 2006

    Tahara Machinery Ltd. is acquired.

  • 2007

    The company marks the centenary year of its founding.
    Head office is relocated to Osaki, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo.

  • 2008

    JSW Machinery Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is established in China.
    Alliance with Meiki Co., Ltd. begins.

  • 2009

    Japan Steel Works India Private Limited is established in India.

  • 2010

    JSW Machinery (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. is established in China.

  • 2012

    Japan Steel Works Europe GmbH is established in Germany.

  • 2014

    JSW AFTY Corporation is established.

  • 2015

    SM Platek Co., Ltd. in South Korea is acquired.

  • 2019

    GM ENGINEERING Co., Ltd. is acquired.
    Nichiyu Machinery Co., Ltd. is acquired.

  • 2020

    Meiki Co., Ltd. is merged into the company.
    Japan Steel Works M&E, Inc. is established.
    Nichiyu Machinery Co., Ltd. is merged into the company.

  • 2021

    JSW Aktina System Co., Ltd.is established.
