Concept of Sustainability

In accordance with its Management Mission “AUTOBACS has always been committed to providing customers with the best solutions for their car lifestyles and creating a rich and healthy automotive society,” the Group desires to create a sustainable society with merchandise and services we provide. We also believe the Group can contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with its employees working all together to address and promote the resolution of social issues through business activities. Accordingly, the Group will pursue both its continuous growth and sustainable development of a society.

AUTOBACS SEVEN Group Sustainability Basic Policy

We have a mission of constantly providing customers with the best solutions for their car lifestyles and creating a rich and healthy automotive society. We will remain close to people’s lives as a professional and friendly organization and continue to offer diverse value with a view to realizing a safe, secure, and gentle society in which people, cars, and the environment exist in harmony.

 

1. Enhancing efforts that consider the environment and society

We will always give consideration to the environmental impacts of our business activities as a company that values people, local communities and the global environment and will take steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in an endeavor to build a sustainable society.

 

2. Creation of businesses that solve social issues

We will create new products and services to resolve social issues surrounding cars through business in order to serve the safety and security of all people related to car lifestyles.

 

3. Respect for the human rights of all people involved in business activities

We will respect the human rights of all people involved in business activities and will not conduct any act of discriminating against, or impairing the dignity of, any individual for any reason whatsoever.

 

4. Development of organization and personnel

We will develop a culture where employees with different attributes, such as nationality, gender, age and physical ability or disability, and with different values will respect and accept one another’s personality.

We will strive to build an environment where individuals can display their potential and achieve growth through education and training activities.

 

5. Ensuring of compliance

We will comply with international treaties and related laws and regulations that apply in countries and regions where we conduct business activities and strictly follow corporate ethics to implement sincere corporate activities.

 

6. Maintenance and enhancement of sound and solid corporate governance system

We will implement timely and appropriate information disclosure as a company open to all stakeholders and ensure high transparency in management for increasing our corporate value.

ESG / SDGs-related Policies

Promotion System

Addressing overall sustainability issues as an important theme, the Company established the ESG & SDGs Project, led by the Representative Director & Chief Executive Officer, and has been promoting it as a company-wide project. The contents of relevant discussions and decisions are reported to the Board of Directors, and the Board provides approval on the Company’s initiatives, issues instructions and conducts supervision, as necessary. The Board of Directors also makes reports to the General Managers Committee and provides necessary instructions and supervision. The Group set non-financial targets in May 2022 and also established KPIs for FY2030. The Group adopted a system under which General Managers not concurrently serving as Directors assume responsibility for achievement of these KPIs. Under this system, the Group will continue monitoring the progress of each of the measures implemented, thereby increasing the likelihood of achievement of “a safe, secure, and gentle society in which people, cars, and the environment exist in harmony.”

Our Approach to Social Issues (SDGs)

All countries that are members of the United Nations are required by 2030 to make efforts to meet the Sustainable Development Goals. This includes addressing issues related to poverty, energy and climate change. At AUTOBACS SEVEN, we have carefully considered the SDGs and narrow down on the goals that are relevant to our business. From these, we aim to contribute to helping achieve the SDGs as a key feature of our business management.


We set priority to the specific goals within the SDGs, that address social issues, and consider ways to contribute to a sustainable society.

Sustainable Development Goals

 

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a continuation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that were developed with the goal of being completed by 2015. In September of 2015, the SDGs were formed at the United Nations Summit as new goals were set for developed country to meet global needs that were formed from this summit. It consists of 17 goals and 169 targets.

As an infrastructure company in the automotive society, we will continue to provide high quality merchandise and services that match the lifestyle and expectations of our customers.

Based on the knowledge, skills and expertise we have cultivated since beginning our company, we have provided various services, including various car goods and car maintenance services, to meet the diverse needs of our customers. We provide for customers in a way that not only meets their needs but also provides their services in a way that is most suitable for our customers.

02Communities

We will continue to positively contribute to ensuring safe communities for local residents. As a company that works together with local communities, we will promote appropriate use of cars.

We continue to solve problems related to cars that can affect a community. As a business, we promote drivers to be considerate of their surroundings and be conscious of their behavior. This supports even those who are not interested in cars.

As a company that contributes to developing a culture that enjoys cars, we proactively support ways to have a fulfilling life with a car.​ 

We believe that cars are not merely a form of transportation, but are in-fact a valuable partner to a person's life. A car can be apart of a fulfilling and satisfying life for people. For that reason, we create many opportunities to show that having a car is a lifestyle choice that increases comfort, enjoyment and excitement in everyday life.

​We contribute to creating a better, more beautiful and more sustainable society as a company that thinks greatly about people, and the local and global environment.

We always consider the environmental impact of our business activities and implement appropriate waste treatment to reduce the environmental impact of our stores and other locations. We aim for a sustainable society where we work together to progress our united goals. In addition, we also focus on respecting human rights and promoting diversity beyond gender, age, nationality, etc. to create a working environment free of discrimination.

As a company open to shareholders, employees, franchisees, suppliers, local communities and other stakeholders, we will remain accountable of our actions and further enhance management transparency.

We will promote sound and highly transparent management so that we may improve corporate governance and internal control systems. This also allows us to improve how we share information in a timely and appropriate manner in order to improve corporate value. We aim to be a company open to all stakeholders by continuously disclosing information.
